The statewide WIND ADVISORY has now been extended until Wednesday evening at 6pm. Winds will be 15-30 mph with gusts to 50 mph. Rainfall will fall mainly windward and mauka but the strong winds will frequently bring passing showers to leeward areas.
The are GALE WARNINGS for the Pailolo and Alenuihaha channels, SMALL CRAFT ADVISORIES for all coastal waters, and a WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY for the summits and upper slopes of Mauna Kea and Mauna Loa on the Big Island of Hawaii. Freezing rain or sleet is possible at higher elevations until about noontime when the temperature is expected to be above freezing.
A HIGH SURF ADVISORY remains posted for east shores. The next significant northwest swell is due early Monday.
Expect a slow, winding down of the breezy trade wind conditions. By the weekend a shear line will pull our winds way back to 5-15 mph. By Monday evening, however, the winds will crank right back up with gusts expected to touch 40 mph.
